Laurence Beaurain moved to St Barth after living in New York City and Paris where she worked for major British and American law firms. Her education and professional experience in both countries allow her to assist and represent French, American and international companies and individuals looking to do business or invest in real estate in St Barth.
Laurence Beaurain was admitted to the Paris Bar in 1993. She holds a Masters in Business Law (DESS) from the Université Paris X as well as a Diplôme de Juriste Conseil d’Entreprise (DJCE) in Business Law from the Université of Montpellier. Laurence holds a Masters of Law (LL.M) in corporate law from NYU Law School.
Laurence Beaurain worked for 4 years with HERBERT SMITH FREEHILLS and 4 years with SKADDEN, ARPS, SLATE, MEAGHER & FLOM in Paris where she specialized in Corporate Law and Mergers & Acquisitions. She then moved to New York and worked for another 5 years at SKADDEN, ARPS in New York where she specialized in Securities Law. She also briefly worked with CLIFFORD CHANCE in Paris to help them set up their Securities Law practice.
During her 9 years with SKADDEN, ARPS in both Paris and New York, Laurence Beaurain advised clients in the negotiation of commercial contracts, including acquisition agreements, shareholders agreements and warranty contracts as well as the creation of complex legal structures. Laurence Beaurain represented Acetex in the acquisition of Rhodia’s acetic acid and sodium businesses. Laurence advised clients in connection with public and private financing of companies in the United States. She represented CSFB and Merrill Lynch as financial advisors of Total Oil in connection with the acquisition of Elf Aquitaine.
